Today

I'd like to vanish into thin air. My new boss is around. Did I ever mentioned that I have two bosses since a few weeks? They couldn't be more different. That sucks. (Sorry for that impression!)

I hope my corrections are ok with you? :bussi:

Try to see the positive - they keep you on your toes.

I don't think you mentioned. At least I can't remember ;-)... but that keeps you flexible ;)

Did you say something embarrassing as you'd like to vanish?

Doesn't that feel like being dipped into cold water, then hot water, then cold water, ....?

You didn't mention it at all! :ausheck:

Don't you feel like having a slight headache or a stomachache that forces you to go home? :pfeif:

 Now I understand what Cowichan meant - I was really wondering which impression she was apoligizing for. 8-)

Re: Today

I already had one  (impression, that is... or better: imagination...)

Gosh! So many mistakes?!

Brösli, you’re right I've forgotten the ed-ending. Regarding the two bosses I still have and will have them for the next years. Thanks for the cheering up. :bussi:

Knutschi, yeah, that keeps me flexible! I wanted to vanish so that my new boss can't see me and annoys me again.

Helmine, that's exactly how it feels.

Carolina, thanks for the correction. For sure it's expression! I'm a bit out of my mind. And I really do have a bad headache and stomach pain. So you mean I should go home?

:prust:

Nini!!!

But to tell the truth: I had exactly the same mental movie ...

Yes, Cowichan, you should!

Do yourself a favour and forget about the - ed.

In combination with 'did' you use the infinitive form...

It's so easy to make me insecure. Thanks for the clarification.

Present perfect is used for things that started in the past and still have consequences now or are still lasting on.

Alternatively, you could say something like "I have gotten a second boss 2 weeks ago".
But you definitely cannot say "I have two bosses since two weeks" - wrong tense and wrong preposition (since only works with points in time, not with time frames.)

Considering your two bosses, I'm not sure whether I should be happy about my 1/3 boss ... He's in our office for about 1 - 2 days a week, and when he's here, he's usually in meetings or on the phone. It is so difficult to develop a boss-employee-relationship that I sometimes even forget to inform him when I take time off.

Brösli hat geschrieben:Alternatively, you could say something like "I have gotten a second boss 2 weeks ago".

Brösli, that's not correct: "Ago" stands always with past tense, since it indicates a time gap (same as "last").

 And imagine, I was just trying to teach someone the use of past tense and present perfect ...

Re: Today

...and to me that's all 'bohemian villages'.

If I had to explain, I'd get 'Lost in Translation.' *nevermind-thatisatitleofastephenkingbook*
